What you need
- A laptop running Windows 10 or 11 (DSP PC Tool 6 is Windows-only)
- Your AMI Tuning Kit — the measurement microphone and interface
- Your car, parked somewhere quiet — a driveway or empty car park works well; an underground garage does not (too much reflection)
- About 30–45 minutes uninterrupted
1. Install DSP PC Tool 6
Download the current release directly from Audiotec Fischer: DSP PC Tool 6 download page. Run the installer and accept the defaults — no special configuration needed.
2. Connect to your DSP
- Plug your AMI Tuning Kit into a free USB port on your laptop.
- Connect the AMI's output to your DSP's input per the AMI's quick-start card (optical or RCA, depending on your DSP).
- Open DSP PC Tool 6. It should auto-detect your connected HELIX or MATCH device — if it doesn't, check the USB connection and that your DSP has power (ignition on, or accessory power live).
- Confirm the software shows your correct device model and channel count before continuing.
3. Do a quick sanity check
Before you measure anything, play music through the system and confirm every channel is working and nothing's wired out of phase. It's much faster to catch a wiring issue now than after you've built a tune around it.
