The Tesla Model 3 doesn't run one factory sound system — it runs two, depending on trim and model year. Entry-level cars ship with a modest speaker set driven by a 7-channel factory amplifier, while cars fitted with Tesla's "Premium Audio" step up to a considerably larger array — Tesla's own specifications have listed as many as 15 speakers across 14 amplifier channels with a dedicated subwoofer, though the exact count shifts with each refresh. Either way, every Model 3's sound is shaped entirely by Tesla's own in-car DSP: a factory tune written for a global fleet of cars, not for your ears, your speakers, or the acoustics of a glass-roofed EV cabin. Integrated Audio is building plug-and-play Helix and MATCH DSP-based sound upgrade packages for the Model 3 — designed to unlock what the factory hardware, and the factory tune, can't.
Why upgrade the Model 3's factory audio?
Even on Premium Audio cars, the tune is fixed in software: crossover points, EQ curve and channel balance are all set at the factory, and can shift after an over-the-air update with no way for you to correct them. There's no time alignment for the driver's seating position, no way to add a dedicated subwoofer if your car didn't ship with one, and no spare amplifier headroom once the factory speakers are already working near their limit. Because the Model 3 has no traditional head unit — everything runs through the central touchscreen — any real upgrade has to integrate with the factory system, not replace it.
What a Helix/MATCH DSP-based upgrade unlocks
A dedicated DSP amplifier taps into the Model 3's factory speaker-level outputs, re-processes the signal with genuine time alignment for the driver's seat, sets proper crossover points for each speaker, and drives the whole system with far more clean power than the factory amp ever had — all while leaving the touchscreen, voice commands, Sentry Mode and every other factory feature completely untouched. Because the processing is fully digital, the same platform can also feed an add-on subwoofer or a full speaker upgrade down the track, exactly like the staged approach we already use on our Ford Ranger, Audi S3 and Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R kits.
